We made a custom item icons mod that's readable!
An Untitled Spiral's Item Icon ReplacementWe couldn't choose between that name, Slightly less worse items, or Project Togenashi, so we picked that one. tldr on bottom What is it?This is of course an another item icons replacement. Me and my mates brainstormed on how we're gonna replace the entire Item shop with pictures that references many elements of the Internet.... which mostly consists of the stuff in our domain... sorry... Suggestions are always welcome. Also, we replaced ALL items. Yes, even scrapped Street Brawl items. Also added sounds for select items. What makes it different from the other mods out there?What makes it different from other mods is that: We try to follow the color scheme of each categories, so Vitality has green majority, Weapon, amber majority and Spirit has purple majority, with different tier having different brightness of the solid color background, if able to. We also tend to avoid text-heavy icons that is common is most meme images. Hell, we didnt even add that much meme images. This makes the icons somewhat more readable. We tested this btw Items that has an obvious upgrade path will has the same theme. For example, all Extra Samina upgrades will have a picture of a "horse", or CPUs for Extra Spirit upgrades, wristwatches for CD items, etc. This follows the same design philosophy as vanilla did. We know referencing the original art is cool and helps with the familiarity, but we designed this from the ground-up. Taking the item's name, what it did and at what extent, and brainstorm on what we should use for it. This makes this mod's selection 100% bottom-up design with original ideas. However, we know that some might end up having the same icon as the other mods. This is either a total coincidence or an unarguably good match. Please do not lynch us for this. All images has its reason to be there. We can justify it's existence, and we actually think about how it will represent the item before putting that into fruition. We also have sounds for some items. Not complete, ofc, but the sound relates to the icon. Like Unstable Concoction... you guinea pigs would love it. Or Arcane Surge, or Colossus... Relatively inoffensive. Not the "inclusive" kind, the "safe for work" kind. Even if you're already running one of the item icon replacements mod, I invite you to try ours out. This mod is actually engineered for readability in high-stress combat, or "high cortisol" moments. You won't regret it, or might even have this mod in your mind, at least. Do you use AI for the mod? AI art?Let me be clear: We use an AI for consulting and brainstorming only. We didn't just throw all items into the chat bot and force it to churn out what to add. We only use it in a conversation with fellow humans to add up to human intelligence. There are ZERO AI arts in this mod. I mean, clearly, AI art tend to be... not clear enough when it's 100px. In short, AI art just sucks. We only use human-created arts, and edited by humans, "ethically sourced" from human sources. That said, if there's anything that tickles your eyes and thought that it might land us in hot water, please let us know. And no, didn't use AI to write all of this. I wrote this on my own. I have a suggestion or would like to tell you something regarding this modOh, to repeat a mantra.
